Preparing for Shabbat!

Hello family and friends!
So, I am starting this blog because I am thinking it might be easier than sending out mass emails!
So here I am, day 6 and am officially having an amazing time! As many of you know I was really struggling the first couple days, lots of homesickness, nervousness, and anxiety, but now I am doing great. I have made a lot of friends from my program and am already getting sad thinking that in a year from now we are all going to be split up between the three different campuses.... I guess it just gives me a reason to go to NY and Cincinnati when I get back home!
So Shabbat is 2 days away and I am hosting 3 people from the school for dinner, so today with the help of some HUC friends I went shopping at the infamous shuk. The shuk is similar to our american farmers market but on a much larger scale, much lighter on the wallet, and much more chaotic. I got: pasta, tomatoes, garlic, brie and mozzarella cheese, crackers, olive oil, balsamic, fresh basil, baguette, and cherries. To give you an idea of how cheep the shuk is, I was able to purchase 6 ripe delicious tomatoes for 3.50 Shekles....that less than $1!!!
Every night I have had something to do. I have already gone to Ben Yehuda street more than my fare share and have not purchased a pair of shoes yet! (i know you are all very proud of that!)
My 3rd roommate for the month should actually be arriving any minute, so I am really excited about meeting her.
Tomorrow is orientation and my 22nd Birthday!!! So after orientation we are all going to go to a bar and have a small birthday celebration for me! It's crazy, but it doesn't feel like tomorrow is my birthday...we'll see how I feel tomorrow when I wake up. That's about it for now, I will post again soon!!!!
I love and miss you all and want to thank you all for your love and support!
